The chemical composition of mineral Carbocernaite is indicated by the formula (Ca,Na)(Sr,Ce,Ba)(CO3)2. Carbocernaite is known as an accessory mineral in dolomite–calcite carbonatite associated with an alkaline ultramafic massif. Carbocernaite is usually found forming at its type of locality at Vuoriyarvi carbonatite complex, Russia. Mineral Carbocernaite was named for the essential chemical components, CARBOnate, CERium, and sodium, Natrium. Mineral Carbocernaite is commonly found with indistinct cleavage in 3 directions which can be noticed more clearly visible when evaluated under polarizing microscopes. Mineral Carbocernaite is known to crystallize in the orthorhombic system of crystal formation. In optical mineralogy, this orthorhombic crystal system comprises crystals having three mutually perpendicular axes, of which all are of different lengths. Mineral Carbocernaite is usually found colored brown, colorless, yellow, yellow brown or white hand sample. The density measure of mineral Carbocernaite is usually found 3.53 grams per cubic centimeters. Most crystals of mineral Carbocernaite are found transparent to translucent in appearance. Mineral Carbocernaite is usually found with brittle crystals. This is generally displayed by glasses and most non-metallic minerals. The hardness measure of mineral Carbocernaite is usually found 3 when evaluated using the Mohs scale method. Mineral Carbocernaite is most commonly found showing vitreous or greasy luster when evaluated with the aid of polarizing microscopes. Mineral Carbocernaite is also commonly found leaving a white streak when rubbed on white porcelain streak plate. Mineral Carbocernaite is also found with biaxial negaive figure when viewed closely between crossed nicols of petrographic polarizing microscopes. Mineral Carbocernaite is also found showing 0.1390 birefringence. The estimated radioactivity of mineral Carbocernaite is usually found weak after chemical evaluation.
