The chemical formula of mineral Cafarsite is indicated by Ca8(Ti,Fe++,Fe+++,Mn)6-7(As+++O3)12•4(H2O). This mineral Cafarsite is most commonly found on cleft faces in orthogneiss. Mineral Cafarsite is usually found at its type of locality at West flank of Cherbadung [Pizzo Cervandone], Binntal, Valais, Switzerland. Mineral Cafarsite was named for the elements in the composition, CAlcium, iron (Ferrum), and ARSenic. Cafarsite is known to crystallize in the isometric system of crystal formation. Mineral Cafarsite is most commonly found brownish yellow, brownish black, dark brown, or dark red in hand sample when viewed closely with the aid of petrographic polarizing microscope for mineralogists. The specific gravity measure of the mineral is usually found 3.9 grams per cubic centimeters. Most crystals of mineral Cafarsite are found translucent to opaque in appearance. Mineral Cafarsite is also most commonly found showing brittle fracture when viewed closely under polarized microscopes. This fracture is generally displayed by glasses and most non-metallic minerals. The hardness measure of mineral Cafarsite when it is evaluated using the Mohs scale method is usually found ranging from 5.5 to 6. Mineral Cafarsite is usually found exhibiting sub-metallic luster when viewed in reflected light of polarizing microscope used in the field of optical mineralogy. Mineral Cafarsite is commonly found leaving a yellowish brown streak when rubbed on white porcelain streak plate. Cafarsite is a non-radioactive mineral as evaluated.
