The chemical composition of mineral Brewsterite – Ba is indicated by the formula (Ba,Sr)Al2Si6O16•5(H2O). This mineral Brewsterite – Ba is considered as a secondary mineral in metamorphosed calc-silicates. It is known to be Ba-dominant member of the brewsterite series. Brewsterite – Ba was discovered at the No. 4 wollastonite mine of the Gouverneur Talc Co., near Harrisville, Lewis County, New York, U.S.A. This mineral Brewsterite – Ba was named as the barium analogue of brewterite – Sr (formerly bariumbrewsterite). Mineral Brewsterite – Ba is known to crystallize in the monoclinic system of crystal formation. In optical mineralogy, the monoclinic system of crystal formation comprises crystals having three axes of unequal lengths. Two of which are usually found in a position that is oblique or not perpendicular to one another. However, both of which are commonly found perpendicular to the third axis. Brewsterite-Ba is commonly found colored white, colorless, or pale pink in hand sample. The specific gravity measure of mineral Brewsterite – Ba is usually found      2.453 grams per cubic centimeters. Most crystals of mineral Brewsterite – Ba are found transparent in appearance. The hardness measure of mineral Brewsterite – Ba is usually found 5 when evaluated using the Mohs scale method. This mineral is also commonly found exhibiting vitreous to glassy luster when viewed in reflected light of polarized microscopes. Mineral Brewsterite – Ba is commonly found showing biaxial figure when evaluated between crossed nicols of polarizing microscopes. It is also commonly found showing 0.0130 to 0.0140 birefringence. Brewsterite – Ba is found to be not radioactive after chemical evaluations.
