The chemical formula of mineral Adelite is indicated by CaMg(AsO4)(OH). Adelite is usually found in manganese deposits at Langban. Its type of locality is Sweden at Langban, Filistad, Varmland. Adelite derived its name from the Greek word for indistinct, for its occurrence as massive specimens. Adelite is known to crystallize in the orthorhombic system of crystal formation. In optical mineralogy, this orthorhombic crystal system comprises crystals having three mutually perpendicular axes, of which all are of different lengths.            Mineral Adelite is usually found showing indistinct cleavage when viewed with the aid of petrographic polarizing light microscope used in optical mineralogy. Adelite is most commonly found blue gray, green, gray, yellow or light green in color that could appear more fascinating when viewed with the aid of polarized microscopes used in optical mineralogy. The specific gravity measure of mineral Adelite is usually found ranging from 3.73 to 3.79 grams per cubic centimeters. Adelite crystals are most commonly found transparent in appearance. Adelite is also usually found showing conchoidal fracture under petrographic polarizing microscopes. In the field of optical mineralogy, fractures are developed in brittle materials characterized by smoothly curving surfaces. Adelite crystals are usually found in massive form that is uniformly indistinguishable crystals forming large masses. The hardness measure of mineral Adelite when it is evaluated using the Mohs scale method is usually 5. Adelite crystals are also non-fluorescent. Adelite is most commonly found leaving white streak when rubbed on a white porcelain streak plate. Mineral Adelite is usually found showing biaxial positive figure when viewed between crossed nicols of petrographic polarizing light microscopes used in optical mineralogy. The birefringence of mineral Adelite is usually found 0.0190. Adelite is not radioactive.
